Sew Me Something is based in Stratford upon Avon, home of William Shakespeare and to show their love for the Bard they have named our patterns after some of his heroines.

Portia is from the Merchant of Venice and at first appears to be held captive by her dead fathers dying wishes. However, she is not your ordinary Venetian maiden and once she has set her heart on her love, Bassanio, nothing will stop her. She out wits the wily Shylock, saves her lover’s best friend from mortal danger and all by managing to stay within the letter of the law. She is highly resourceful and thinks ‘outside the box’. Anyone can break the rules but it’s how you make them work for you that counts.
