Spend a fun and educational day with Great British Sewing Bee contestant Alex Florea on this Introduction to Overlockers Workshop - stage 2. It is suitable for students who have already done the stage 1 course or are fairly confident with the fundamentals of the machine including threading up. This course is designed to enable you to construct a tee shirt using a pattern, inserting a sleeve and neckline and finishing hems. We will use our latest Pfaff Hobbylock 2.0 machines for this workshop to avoid the frustration and delays if machines brought are not PAT tested or do not function correctly.
If you need a machine PAT testing, need advice or service on a machine you already have then just let us know and bring it along for Steve of www.stitchagain.com to sort out for you.
In the morning, students will cut out their tee shirts and begin construction. We will recap on the principles of threading and achieving the correct tension for the fabric we will be using then we will insert a neckline and sleeves.
During our break for lunch students can view a range of different makes and models and anyone considering buying one can get advice on selecting the right overlocker for them.
In the afternoon students will finish their tee shirts and have the opportunity to ask Alex any further questions.
The main objective of this course is to give you the confidence to start making your own clothes and show just how quick and easy it can be when using an overlocker.
